ARE YOU FINDING HIS LOST SHEEP ?
I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.
— Ezekiel 34:11 NIV
Beloved, notice the heart of the Shepherd in our theme verse: “I myself.”
God is not a distant Shepherd who is unconcerned about His sheep. He personally searches for them. His desire is not merely to find them, but to bring them back, care for them, heal them, and restore them. Jesus revealed this same heart in John 10:16 NIV:
“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”
But how will these other sheep hear His voice and be brought into the flock? Through you and me, His children. Paul makes this clear:“.. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:19 NIV)
The words “I myself” in our theme verse, also reveal the kind of heart God expects us to have toward His sheep. He wants intimacy, tenderness, compassion, and genuine love. Our lives should be living testimonies of His good news. This is why God confronted the shepherds of Israel in Ezekiel 34. They were feeding themselves while neglecting the flock. And then the Lord addressed the sheep themselves:
“Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?”
— Ezekiel 34:18 NIV
In other words, do not enjoy God's goodness while making it difficult for someone else to experience it.Have you ever wondered why someone who desperately needs Jesus may be watching your life? They may never open a Bible first—but they may encounter you first.
They may never walk into a church—but they may meet Christ through your compassion.
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO BE PART OF THE SHEPHERD SEARCH PARTY IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
