Therefore watch always and pray that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”- Luke 21:36 MEV
The Lord exhorts us to always watch and pray, we have to be in constant watch at all times in joyful hope and not fear for his second coming. Even in the hope of his first coming, our patriarchs worshipped God day and night. St. Paul said "to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, as they earnestly serve God day and night. (Acts 26:7 MEV)
Why do we have to watch and pray?
The Lord said about " men fainting from fear and expectation of what is coming on the inhabited earth. For the powers of heaven will be shaken. When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is drawing near.” “Luke 21:26, 28, MEV
Through watch and pray, we will not swoon in fear, for He is not coming to destroy us but complete our redemption. Instead we should "look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is drawing near" Also as our opening verse says "watch always and pray that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Beloved, let's never live for ourselves, but for him. The Bible says "For none of us live for ourselves, and no one dies for himself. For if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. (Romans 14:7-8 )
That is why Jesus warned "Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts become burdened by excessiveness and drunkenness and anxieties of life, and that Day comes on you unexpectedly." (Luke 21:34 MEV)
MAY THE PEACE OF THE LORD BE WITH US ALWAYS.
WE PRAY FOR GRACE TO ABIDE IN HIM AND BE CHRIST READY AT ALL TIMES TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
