BREAD OF LIFE

I am the bread of life - John 6:48 BSB

The Lord said I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.” (John 6:51 BSB)

Imagine that our wealth, our struggles, no matter how much, cannot give us eternal life, only a piece of bread does. Even the most expensive food, exercise, healthy living cannot afford eternal life, only a piece of bread, the flesh of Jesus, does. "For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink." (John 6:55 BSB)

Think of this: if you want to buy eternal life, how much and where you can get it. This places us above the wealthiest person on earth. "The well-fed hire themselves out for food, but the starving hunger no more. The barren woman gives birth to seven, but she who has many sons pines away." (1 Samuel 2:5 BSB)

We put faith in things of the world to sustain us instead of God, that is why we allow our earthly possessions to define us as rich or poor, instead of God who created us and gave us all things to enjoy. John the Baptist has no house, good food or nice clothes, but the Lord said, "among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." (Matthew 11:11 BSB)

Let us trust God, "who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 1:3 BSB) Let our lacks be opportunities to discover His divine providence, for what you see doesn't last, but what you don't see last forever. The rich might suffer lack but those who God feeds lacks no good thing[ Psalm 34:10]
