DO YOU SPEND TIME WITH JESUS!

‭When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

-‭‭Acts‬ 4:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How much time do you spend with Jesus in prayers and word meditation? In Luke 5, Peter spent time listening to Jesus first and received the faith he needed to obey His command. Jesus did not just send His apostles out without first spending time with them in teaching. ‭‭Mark‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ says that "He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach."

The major challenge in listening assiduously to the word of God is our inordinate attachments to things. Imagine that nothing on earth, including our job status, money , house, even marriage gives eternal life except the word of God. Yet many are blinded into pursuing things that will perish over things that endure forever. Why? The enemy planted those while we were sleeping.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:3‭-‬4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ says "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God" That is why we need to spend time with Jesus for when we turn to Him, those veils are broken, for the Lord is Spirit and in His presence there is freedom! (2 Corinthians 3: 16-18)
