GIVE NO ROOM FOR A PITY PARTY

“For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.”

— Colossians 3:3 NLT

Beloved, we really have no room for a pity party!

Isaiah 60:20 NLT declares, “Your sun will never set; your moon will not go down. For the Lord will be your everlasting light. Your days of mourning will come to an end.”

The problem is that we sometimes allow the changing lights of this world—our circumstances, emotions, disappointments, and human limitations—to determine how we see our lives. But we have been called to walk in Christ, who is our everlasting Light.

Even though we are in this world, we are dead to its dominion and alive to God in Christ. So, instead of throwing a pity party over the troubles around us, set your eyes on Christ!

That is why Isaiah 60:1 NIV says: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” Notice that God does not tell us to wait for the darkness to disappear before we arise. For in verse 2, He acknowledges the darkness: “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.”

The darkness may be real, but it does not have the final say over those who walk in God's light.

Then comes this remarkable promise: “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”(Isaiah 60:3 NIV)

Beloved, the Lord did not light us up so we can hide in a pity party! No one lights a lamp and hides it under a basket or under a bed. (Matthew 5) We are cities on a mountain top!

ARISE AND SHINE!
