and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,

Romans 8:17 NKJV

We are not heirs of God because of our performance, but because we are children of God. Consider the story of the prodigal son: when he returned to his father, the father did not first evaluate his performance before restoring him. Instead, he immediately restored everything that belonged to him as a son and heir.

Beloved, we are born as heirs of God. However, without spiritual growth and maturity, we cannot fully partake in our inheritance as His children. No father places his two-year-old child in charge of his investments; the child must first grow into maturity.

As Galatians 4:1 NKJV says, “Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all.” This is why St. Paul said, “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20:32 NKJV).

We must grow in His Word in order to fully walk in our inheritance as heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. Spiritual growth does not make us sons; rather, it enables us to mature into the fullness of what already belongs to us as sons. That is why I Peter 2:2 NKJV says, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.”

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO GROW SPIRITUALLY AND BE STRENGTHENED AND POSITIONED TO PARTAKE FULLY IN OUR INHERITANCE IN CHRIST, IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

THANK YOU JESUS!
