HIS WORD GIVES US AN EDGE OVER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
By considering your commands I have an edge over my enemies, for I take seriously everything you say.

Beloved, God’s Word gives us an edge over every circumstance. How? Ecclesiastes 12:11 NIV says that, “The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails—given by one shepherd.”
A goad was a sharp stick used by a shepherd to guide the flock in the right direction. In the same way, God’s Word has the power to redirect our steps and bring divine order into circumstances that appear to be going in the wrong direction.
But Scripture also compares wise words to “firmly embedded nails.” What a powerful picture! When God’s Word becomes deeply established in our hearts and minds, we become firmly rooted. Circumstances may shake around us, but they do not have to shake us.
David declared:”He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights.” (Psalm 18:33 NLT) This is reflected in the armor of God. Paul says:“For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.” (Ephesians 6:15 NLT)
Jesus illustrated this beautifully: “Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation.”
