Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Luke 9:23 NKJV
To persevere through the tribulations of this world, three things are involved: Deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him. Denying ourselves simply involves surrendering to His words and not to the dictates of the flesh, our senses. Romans 8:13 NIV says, “if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” The word of God is Spirit and life. Through word meditations, we renounce ourselves and all our feelings and receive Him the way He is, as well as one another the same way God sees them.
Next is to pick up our own cross, and follow Him. That is to pick up our cross, and walk as He walked, aligning our thoughts with His thoughts. We carry our cross with perseverance knowing that He has overcome the world. That is why “ our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” (2 Corinthians 4:17 NIV)
We don't need to have it all to prove to the world that Christ is in us. That is, we don't allow our natural circumstances to define His presence in our lives. In general, in carrying our crosses, we should be spiritually minded, and not fleshly minded. That is, we focus on Christ, “ as He is so are we now in this world” For, Romans 8:9 NIV says
“You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.”
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO LIVE THROUGH TRIALS WITH FAITH IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
