He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.
-Colossians 2:14-15 NLT
The Lord said this, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NKJV)
Though we have peace in Christ, we will face distress, tribulations in this world, but to live in that peace of Christ, we have to cheer up and be brave, for He has overcome those tribulations for us. Amplified classic version says " I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you. How? (See our theme verse)
That is why Romans 6:6 NLT says "We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin." Hence distress, tribulation has lost its power over us.
Remember the words of the Lord, Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever.
John 8:34-35 NLT
So, while we were sinners, we were slaves to distress, tribulations and all
the elemental forces of this world, but Christ took us out of slavery and adopted us as sons of God. ( See Galatians 4:1-7) depriving the world the power to harm us, for sons are not slaves to sin and distress.
That is why 1 John 5:4 NLT says "For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith." That is faith that He has overcome the world .
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO LIVE AS SONS AND NOT SLAVES TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
