OUR FAITHFUL WITNESS II

THE WATER

And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

I John 5:8 NKJV

The water in our verse is the water of baptism, it testifies that we are dead to this world and alive to God in Christ. Romans 6:4 says " For we are buried with him by baptism into death, that just as the Christ was raised up from the dead to the glory of the Father, likewise we also walk in the newness of life."

The dead are free from sin and distress, only if they stay dead. So, if the plaque of sin and it's distress shows up in our lives, just as Pharaoh and his armies were drowned by the red sea, so also the water of baptism drowns them.

Just as in Psalm 104:9, God during creation set boundaries, so that the water will never flood the earth again, so also water of baptism acts as a boundary, so that elemental forces of this world cannot invade us.

To partake in this grace, we should at all times present ourselves to God as those who have crossed from death to life. That is to walk in the newness of life. Walk as those who were dead to sin and alive to God. The Bible says "Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.( Rom 6:11)
