OVERCOME BY THE SPIRIT

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”- John 16:33 NIV

Notice that the Lord said "I have overcome the world " That means He has done it already, it is in the past. It is like telling your child; I have paid for your school fees, go back to school" . The Amplified version of our text says "I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you". how?

The creator of the universe, the Monarch of the universe , Yahweh Sabbaoth( The Lord of Host) lives in us. Can the created be greater than the creator? No wonder the Bible says "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (I John 4:4 NKJV)

Today's world is filled with so much violence, destruction and scarcity, the Lord is telling us here to be brave for we have overcome them. How? Because of the one that overcome lives in us.

No wonder Psalms 114:3 CEV says "When the sea looked at God, it ran away, and the Jordan River flowed upstream." In another place it says "The ocean is roaring, Lord! The sea is pounding hard. Its mighty waves are majestic, but you are even more majestic, and you rule over all.

BLESSED ARE YOU GOD THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST FOR WE HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD WITH IT'S TRIBULATIONS BECAUSE OF YOUR SPIRIT THAT LIVES IN US.
