PUT ON YOUR SWORD OF THE SPIRIT

…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; - Ephesians 6:17 NKJV

Here we are dealing with the rhema of God, that is the spoken word and not the logos, the written word. So, always be on the offensive with the sword of the Spirit rather than defensive, faith is for defense " shield of faith ". Why? Everything in life both seen and unseen is subjected to the word of God. "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.(John 1:3 NKJV)

The greatest enemy to using this sword is the flesh, the senses, it dictates contrary to all the dictates of the word, that is why it is the sword of the Spirit and not the sword of the flesh. How do we receive and use it in this world?

Before you plant a seed, you have to clear the ground, and cultivate, so the seed can sprout and grow. The same way, we have to put the things of the flesh, the senses under control so the word can grow in us mightily and prevail over the thorns, thistles, and rocky surfaces. Acts 19:20 NKJV says in Ephesus, "So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed." How?

The word of God is living and active, the word of God is Spirit and life. The more we ingest it, the more it becomes alive and operative in us, transforming our minds so we can discern things of the spirit and those of the flesh. Then our spirit can receive from God.

Beloved, use your Sword of the Spirit at all times. Just as in Nehemiah 4:17, the workers did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, so we should be on the offensive with our sword of the Spirit at all times.
