SATURATE THE SPIRIT WITH THE WORD OF GOD III

The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails—given by one shepherd.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 NIV

Galatians 5:16 NIV says "walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." How do we walk by the Spirit? Through the Word of God, for when they dwell richly in our spirit, it will make us go the right way. Our theme verse describes them as "goads,firmly embedded nails—given by one shepherd"

Remember, the old self was crucified with Christ, but the flesh still retains the memory of our old selves, and is in enmity with God. "For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live." (Romans 8:13 NIV)

The word of God is Spirit and life, they are like goads, very hard to kick against, so we can through it daily put to death the misdeeds of the body, that is , be led with the goads "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.(Romans 8:14)
