When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper driven out by the heat fastened on his hand. But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.- Acts 28:3, 5 MEV
You notice that the poisonous snake, though it fastened on Paul's hand, caused no harm. This signifies that sin and it's venomous distress has lost it's power over us. Why?
The Bible says "“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
(1 Peter 2:24 NIV)
As much sin and this world is concerned, we are dead to them and alive to all the attributes of God. The Lord said "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:14-15 NKJV)
Is He lifted up ? Yes! That is why the Bible says "We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.(Romans 6:6 NLT) No wonder sickness, failures, wretchedness, untimely death can never rule us.
Today, we are not worried about sin having dominion over us for we are under grace. Do we have grace? Yes! "And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace" (John 1:16 NKJV) No matter the sin or challenges that come our way, our duty is to exercise dominion over them and shake them off just as St. Paul shook off the viper.
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO STAND STRONG IN THE GRACE OF GOD THROUGH PERSEVERANCE TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
