SPIRITUAL NUMBNESS LEADS TO SPIRITUAL DUMBNESS

But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.

Luke 1:29 NKJV

In our verse, Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, by just greeting her, she was beginning to contemplate, Ponder what manner of greeting is this: " “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”(Luke 1:28)

Now I ask, how much time do we put in to meditate on the word of God? Have we become numbed by hearing the same word over and over that it means nothing to us anymore? Does this verse "Beloved, now we are children of God.".(I John 3:2)

mean anything to us, or are we used to hearing " children of God"?

In Luke 1:12, the same angel appeared to

Zacharias, unlike Mary who was troubled at the sayings and not at the sight of the angel, Zacharias was troubled at his sight , and fear fell upon him. Above all was demanding for a sign, a proof: " how shall I know this?"

The Passion translation says "Zechariah asked the angel, “How do you expect me to believe this? I’m an old man and my wife is too old to give me a child. What sign can you give me to prove this will happen?”(Luke 1:18 TPT)

That was why He was struck with dumbness, is this not why many have become spiritually dumb hence can not speak the right words at the right time, they cannot testify to His greatness, hence keep looking for signs. Simply because they don't meditate on the words. Many places in the Bible, it was written that Mary kept the words in her heart and pondered it often.

No wonder David prayed "O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.(Psalms 51:15 NKJV)
