THE FOUNDATION OF OUR AUTHORITY IS ROOTED IN OUR PLACE IN CHRIST

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 10:19 NKJV

The authority to trample upon the powers of the enemy and walk in victory is rooted in our position in Christ. We are not fighting for a place of authority; in Christ, we have already been raised and seated with Him in the heavenly realms. 

Ephesians 2:6 NIV tells us that God “raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Christ Himself is seated at the right hand of God in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:20).

Therefore, we trample upon the powers of the enemy because our position in Christ is a position of authority and victory. Psalm 48:10 NLT says, “Your strong right hand is filled with victory.”

We are also protected because our position in Christ is far above the reach of the enemy. (Ephesians 1:21) The enemy cannot ascend to the place where Christ is seated. Psalm 24:3–4 NLT asks:

“Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.”

The enemy is a liar and has no place in the holy presence of God. In Christ, we have been raised above the dominion of darkness and hidden in the security of God's power.

This is why Isaiah 49:2 NKJV says:

“And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me.”

He gives us authority to overcome the enemy while keeping us secure under His protection.Let us therefore become conscious of our position in Christ and the authority we have received through Him.
