Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Psalms 141:2 NKJV
Psalms 9:1 NKJV says "I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works." The Hebrew word translated as praise here is "Yadah" which means to worship with extended hands, to cast out, to throw a stone, or an arrow. It's commentary in the Passion translation says that Yadah implies an ecstatic burst of praise that is thrown into the heavens like a shout. It is a praise that breaks strongholds. A fresh determination arose in David's spirit to praise his way into victory.
Why the extended or lifted hands?
Remember Moses won victory over the Amalekites, by lifting up his hands, Elijah waited till the evening sacrifice and won over the baal prophets. Peter healed the crippled at the beautiful gate during the evening sacrifice.
OUR Lord Jesus waited till 3pm, the hour of evening sacrifice and offered himself to God, with hands extended on the cross, as He disarmed the powers and authorities, making a public spectacle of them.(Colossians 2:15 ) It is really a sign of triumph as we pray, praising with hands raised up, the enemy hates it for we are shooting out arsenals of lethal weapons, as we enforce judgment decreed against them!
No wonder St. Paul said "I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;"(I Timothy 2:8 NKJV)
!
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO OFFER OUR PRAYERS WITH SHOUTED PRAISES AND LIFTING UP OF OUR HANDS TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
