THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT

Beloved, just as the nations of the world launch missiles and deploy weapons of warfare with confidence, we too must learn to use the Word of God with faith and confidence. The Word of God is our spiritual weapon of warfare. It cuts through all things and is never cut by anything.

Just as the world recognizes an opposition and responds with its weapons, we should not deny or suppress the oppositions we face. Rather, we must submit every circumstance, challenge, and opposition to the authority of God's Word.

James 4:7 NIV says:“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” We acknowledge what we are facing, but we do not surrender to it. Instead, we submit it to the authority of God's Word. We declare what God has spoken in faith, and the circumstances will align, for His Word is truth and His authority is final.

The world may assess the effectiveness of its weapons by what it can see, because the world walks by sight. But we cannot assess the effectiveness of our spiritual weapons by sight, feelings, or circumstances. Our weapons are spiritual, and the Word of God is spirit and life. This is why we must not copy the ways of the world:“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.” (2 Corinthians 10:3 NIV)
