WE ARE A PECULIAR PEOPLE V

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:- 1 Peter 2:9 KJV

We can draw our peculiarity from the two signs God gave us in our history of salvation. The first is the sign of " a bush engulfed in flames but never burnt" (Ex 3:2) This means that those troubles in our lives are not really there. In verse 3 of the NLT Version, Moses called it "amazing" when he saw it's glory and approached it.

This explains why as children of truth, we walk by faith and not by sight. 2Cor 4:17-18 says "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

The second sign is a virgin birth "Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you....(Luke 1:34‭-‬35) This. Means that we cannot accomplish anything in our lives without the Holy Spirit. 2Cor 4:7 says "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."

So the first sign is telling us that those troubles of our lives are never there or they are temporary. The second sign revealed our power of excellence. Let us trust God in all circumstances and never lean on our understanding, for we are not defined by our circumstances, the Spirit does. We have absolutely nothing to worry about, the Lord has overcome the world for us.
