WE CANNOT BE ABSORBED

And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it]. -John 1:5 AMPC

I chose the amplified translation of our verse for it uses the word "absorbed". The color an object has depends on the wavelength that is not absorbed by the object but is reflected when sunlight falls on it. For example, an object is red because it absorbs all the light wavelengths that fall on it and reflects only red which we see.

In our own case, our opening verse is saying that our light is never absorbed at all no matter where or what it falls on, it reflects all its wavelengths. Why? Verse 4 of our theme says "In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men". So our light is from his life, that is the Holy Spirit and not from the Sun.

That is why our joy, love, endurance, health, marriage, prosperity etc cannot be absorbed by the challenges of this life. Instead, we prosper in all things and in good health as our soul prospers. Meaning sickness and failures have no place in our life. No wonder Jesus placed us on the mountain top.

If our joy, prosperity in any aspect fails, that means we are walking with the light of the sunlight and not our true light, for our true light absorbs all darkness and is never absorbed. "In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men" That is why the Lord said " If the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? (Matthew 5:13 NKJV)
