WE HAVE A GREAT HELPER

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,

John 14:16 ESV

Jesus while on earth was our helper, and

before he left the earth He said, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,

even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:16 -17 ESV

Jesus is the Truth, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth—the Spirit of Jesus. While on earth, Jesus was with us as our Helper, and now He lives in us as our Helper, never leaving us. That is why He is our ever-present help. Like the world, we may not always sense His help if we measure it by what we see, for He is Spirit and must be worshiped in Spirit and in truth.

Just as Jesus was our faithful Helper in the physical while on Earth—healing the sick and feeding the multitudes—He remains just as faithful now in the Spirit. For Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This profound truth is the mystery St. Paul revealed: Christ in you, the hope of glory!

“To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
