WHY DID GOD REST?

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy - Exodus 20:8 KJV

Sabbath day is a day of God's rest, not our own rest, but we are called into His rest, so we observe it as God's own rest. Why? God is Spirit, He does not rest the human way, rather He rests spiritually not physically. Jesus said “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”(John 5:17 NIV)

If God rests the human way, everything will shut down, the air, rain, night and day etc “..For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” (Revelation 4:11 NKJV) Even we humans will cease to exist,"for in Him we live and move and have our being.’ (Acts 17:28)

Why did God rest after 6 days? If you come into your house and everywhere is messy, and children are hungry, won't you put everything in order before resting ? The Bible tells us that in the beginning "the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.(Genesis 1:2 KJV)

So God had to put everything in order and make sure it was good and then rested. Then He called us to rest with him. So we set apart Sunday, the first day of the new creation, since Christ resurrected on that day, to rest with Him joyfully, thankfully with gladness of heart, remembering His good works of creation, and that we have entered His rest and have ceased from all struggles.

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO OBSERVE THE SABBATH DAY WITH GLADNESS OF HEART TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
