"Then he said to the tree, 'May no one ever eat fruit from you again.' And his disciples heard him say it."

Mark 11:14 (NIV)

In the preceding verses of our theme scripture, the Lord Jesus was hungry. Seeing a fig tree covered with leaves, He approached it expecting to find fruit. However, despite its outward appearance, the tree had nothing to offer. As a result, He cursed it because He could not eat from it.

Are we allowing God to eat from us, or are we living only for ourselves? The Lord did not save us merely to pursue our own ambitions and desires. The Bible says :"And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." (2 Corinthians 5:15 NIV)

Life is not primarily about acquiring possessions, accumulating wealth, or achieving personal success. It is about cultivating a relationship with God and bearing fruit that brings Him pleasure and glory. God has already brought us to the finished line, through His finished work of the cross.  If we then rate our success by our performance, what pleasure does that bring to Him ,after all unbelievers do the same.

The Lord Jesus also warned us through the parable of the rich fool:

And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’   “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’  “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

(Luke 12:19-21 NIV)

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO LET GOD EAT FROM US IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

THANK YOU JESUS!
