O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Psalm 63:1 ESV

Imagine how hungry for the Lord Zaccheus was that made him climb the sycamore tree. Christianity is a life of those who are hungry, those who hunger for the Lord. We cannot be stagnant in Christianity or lukewarm. Matthew 11:12 ESV says, “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.” only those who are hungry for the Lord, take it by force.

In the old creation, God allowed the Israelites to be hungry before feeding them with Manna, food unknown to their ancestors. This way He made them rely on Him as their only provider and Lord. God only feeds those who are really hungry, and not those with divided loyalty. Psalm 107:9 ESV says, “For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.”

Just as the Israelites hunger for food in the desert for there is no other means of getting food. In the same way,we should hunger for the Lord as our only Lord and Savior. Psalm 81:10 ESV says, “ I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Only the hungry open their mouth wide for the master to feed them. So let us be hungry for the Lord, spend time in His words day and night so He can feed us with good things.

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO BE HUNGRY FOR THE LORD IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

THANK YOU JESUS!
