All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
Luke 2:18-19 NLT
The gospel can be so astonishing, it can fill you with so much awes and wonder especially as you get more insights and amazing knowledge through meditation. Sometimes you can find yourself leaping with ecstatic joy with joyful shouts at some stunning discovery. We really have to guard against being carried away by it's astonishment, by pondering it no matter how amazing it is.
In our theme, when the shepherds brought the good news of their encounter with the angels, while ALL who heard it were astonished, “Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.” While we enjoy the astonishment of the gospel, it is good to continue pondering them irrespective of the emotions until it bears roots in our hearts.
Remember the parable of the sower, “The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word”. (Matthew 13:20-21 NLT) Emotions might wear off, but if the gospel is deep rooted in our hearts, it bears more fruit.
Write down every stunning discovery of the Lord you received and ponder it often
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO PONDER THE WORD MORE OFTEN IRRESPECTIVE OF IT'S ASTONISHMENT IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
