BE THE BRANCH AND NOT THE TRUE VINE

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:5 NLT

If you want to live a stress free life, live as the branch and not the Vine. We are just the branches, our source is the Vine. All we need as branches to bear fruit are already provided in the Vine by grace and not by our struggles. Our part is to rest in the provision for no branch is the source of itself, hence cannot survive by itself.

In the parable of the prodigal son, the prodigal son wanted to be his own source, but lost everything for a branch can not survive by itself. ( See Luke 15) It could be why the Father's response to the older brother, who asked why the father would not give him as he had done to the younger brother. “‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours. (Luke 15:31 NLT)

Just as a branch can only enjoy all that the Vine has if it stays with the Vine. So, also we can only enjoy all that the Lord has if we stay with Him as branches. “Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.”(John 15:6 NLT)

How do we remain in the Vine? By seeing Him as our source in all things. If we want to define ourselves for what we have or have not ,we look at the Vine, our source, for as He is, so are we. Because He lives, we shall live, we are the weak, He is our strength. Psalms 16:2 NKJV says, “O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO LIVE AS THE BRANCH OF THE TRUE VINE, AND ABIDING IN HIM, IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

THANK YOU JESUS!
