The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.
Luke 2:11-12 NLT
Zechariah said in Luke 1:69 NLT, “ He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David,” The angel in our theme verse told the shepherds how they would recognize the mighty Savior, “ a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” So, the mighty Savior, the prophets foretold, was humbly wrapped in a manger, a feeding trough for animals. Bethlehem means house of bread.
The Lord also called Himself the bread of life. “I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.” (John 6:58 NLT) Think of how in the desert, the children of Israel could not have survived without Manna. The Lord is telling us here that even though they ate the Manna and still died , those who feed on Him will never die.
Our mighty savior is food God sent to us from heaven to eat and live in this world of hunger. In John 6:57 NLT He said, “I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.” It does not matter anymore the hunger we face in this world, be it in our health and wellbeing, finances, marriages, etc. If we feed on our mighty Savior, we will live because of Him.
BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, HOSSANNA IN THE HIGHEST!
THANK YOU JESUS!
