Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Luke 10:20 BSB
In the preceding verses of our theme, The disciples whom Jesus sent out, came back rejoicing that the demons were even submissive to them. Sometimes, we could be carried away with the service we are called to do rather than who we are as children of God. Many adore their clergy, going from one church to another looking for one miracle or the other, or even comparing clergymen.
We are all unworthy servants of God, hence cannot boast of our service we are called to do. The Lord said in Luke 17:10 BSB, “So you also, when you have done everything commanded of you, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” 1 Corinthians 4:1 BSB says, “So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.”
All that matters is that we are children of God. “Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” The anointing that the Lord wants us to cherish more is the one we all received at baptism, when our names were written in heaven. 1 John 2:20 BSB says about it, “You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.”
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO CELEBRATE OUR NEW BIRTH ALL THE TIME WITH ECSTATIC JOY IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
