CHERISH ONE ANOTHER II

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

‭Colossians 3:13 NLT‬

‭Ephesians 6:17 tells us to take the sword of the Spirit and not of the flesh. We cannot engage in the battle against spiritual wickedness with works of the flesh. Anger, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions are all weapons of the flesh (‭Galatians 5)

When the Lord commanded us to forgive one another, He was not saying for His own sake but for our own good. Anger, rage, Unforgiveness, hatred, bitterness etc are all weapons we fashion against ourselves and not to the one it was directed to, for no weapon fashioned against a child of God prospers but the one we fashion against ourselves gives a foothold for the enemy.

That is why James 3:16 NIV‬ says, “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.” Instead of engaging one another with weapons of the flesh, let us encourage one another with weapons of the spirit, words of grace.
