DO NOT ENVY THE WICKED BUT BE RESOLUTE IN THE LORD

And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

Malachi 3:18 NIV

Beloved, do not copy or envy the wicked, for the Lord has already made a distinction between them and us. 2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” We are no longer in the same realm with them, the realm of sin and death. But rather, we are in the realm of righteousness and life. We have crossed from death to life.

Malachi 4:1-3 NIV says about it, “Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty.”

That is why Proverbs 23:17-18 NIV says, “Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord. There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”
