FAITH GIVES GOD THE FINAL SAY IN THE FACE OF OPPOSITIONS II
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.
Romans 4:20 NIV
Romans 4:21 gives us the secret behind Abraham’s unwavering faith: “being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” Abraham was fully persuaded—not because his circumstances were favorable, but because he knew that God was powerful enough to fulfill His Word.
The opposition did not change the promise.
Beloved, are you fully persuaded? Are you fully persuaded that by His wounds you have been healed, even when your symptoms tell you otherwise? Are you fully persuaded that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, even when you are experiencing lack?
Are you fully persuaded that your sins are forgiven through Christ, even when your performance makes you feel unworthy?
The presence of opposition does not cancel the authority of God’s Word.
Just as Abraham, our oppositions are not necessarily designed to destroy us. God can use them as opportunities to strengthen our faith if we learn to live by His Word rather than by the dictates of our senses and circumstances.
Our minds and senses may not yet be fully renewed, but that does not mean we must become enslaved to what they tell us.
We are called to bring our thoughts, feelings, circumstances, and experiences under the authority of God’s Word.
This is part of our spiritual growth. As we learn to be led by the Spirit rather than controlled by our circumstances, we grow into spiritual maturity.That is why Romans 8:14 NIV says:
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”
