GIVE HIM SONGS OF PRAISE

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:3 ESV

Beloved, what kind of song are you singing to our heavenly Father, lamentations of our troubles and sins or songs of praise? When we were rescued from the dominion of darkness, God put a song in our mouth, His words of praise! Why? So “Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. “

The best song we should sing to our heavenly Father is to confess His words, confessing what He has done! In Greek it is called, “homologia” , saying things in agreement, in acknowledgement. This is what transforms us. That is the manner of song Blessed virgin Mary sang to God in her magnificat, as well as Zechariah the husband of Elizabeth. ( See Luke 1)

The second verse of our theme verse says, “He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” (Psalm 40:2 ESV) These songs of praise are what makes our feet established upon the rock. For the Holy Spirit confirms the words we confess by His works for they are His words. Remember what Jesus told Philip, “The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” (John 14:10 NIV)
