GIVE HIM SONGS OF PRAISE IV

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:3 ESV

Verse 2 of our theme says “ He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings”(Psalm 40:2 KJV) Not only did He bring us out of the horrible pit, He also secured our feet so we don't fall back into the horrible pit.

Newton's First Law of Motion says, “A body remains in the state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless and until an external force acts on it.” Applying Newton's First law in God's redemptive work shows that there is a greater law, the law of the Spirit of life, that keeps us from falling back into the corruption of sin and death. Romans 8:2 KJV says, “ For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

That is why we should stand firm in confessing with joyful praises what God has done, for the law of Spirit of life is greater than the law of sin and death. No wonder Psalm 116:7-8 ESV says, “Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling;”
