LET GO THE PAST AND LIVE THE NEW

The poor are always ruled over by the rich, so don’t borrow and put yourself under their power.

Proverbs 22:7 MSG

Ecclesiastes 10:7 ESV says, “I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on the ground like slaves.” We are the kings on earth, but without the right mindset, we will live as slaves. Many children of God are living as borrowers while the Bible says we should be lenders not borrowers.

Deuteronomy 28:12 ESV says, “..And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”

Romans 6:16 tells us that we are slaves to whom we obey. Many are slaves of their past life, because they set their minds on the old life instead of the new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Sickness, failures, etc, are of the old life, but if we set our minds on them, they will rule over us. “That is why our theme verse says “The poor are always ruled over by the rich, so don’t borrow and put yourself under their power.”

The Bible says that Abraham's success was because He set His mind on the new homeland, heavenly one and not on the former, for, “If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had the opportunity to return”. ( Hebrews 11:15 ESV)

But Lot's wife perished in a pillar of salt. because she refused to let go of the old. That is why Romans 8:6 tells us that to set the mind on the flesh, the old, is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit, the new life, is life and peace.
