LIVE A MEANINGFUL LIFE ON EARTH

As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.

John 17:18 ESV

Beloved, use this season of Lent to reflect on your purpose on earth. The Lord did not descend to hell after His death on the cross to be held captive by the devil. Rather, He went there for a purpose—to defeat him and set his captives free. Colossians 2:15 ESV says, “ He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” That is why Ephesians 4:8 ESV says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”

In the same way, we were not sent to earth to be slaves or captives to the elemental forces of this world. Rather, we are here for a purpose, to rule over them until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 110:1-2 ESV says, “ The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies!”

Beloved, we are not our own handiwork.

We were not sent to live for ourselves on this earth, to merely work, suffer, and die. Rather, we are God’s own handiwork in Christ Jesus. Our lives have been divinely prearranged for good works through Christ, all for God’s glory. Therefore, do not live as a victim of earthly circumstances.
