LIVE FOR THE REALM OF COMPLETENESS IN CHRIST

Psalm 121:2 ESV

Ponder these verses calmly, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, .. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,” (Colossians 2:6-11 ESV)

Those verses are very deep though they are long. They are teaching us to rely completely on the Lord, for just as we were saved by His grace, we should also live by His grace. Being rooted in Him, entails standing strong in His grace by drawing nutrients, power from His words, and not by our performance. Just as the enemy deceived Eve by letting her believe that they could be complete like God by partaking in the created, the fruit from the tree. In the same way, we can be swayed from the truth that we are complete in Christ, to believing that we are complete by earthly standards and philosophy.

The body of the flesh that held us captive to earthly standards was put off by the circumcision of Christ. We should live from the realm of completion in Him and not in earthly standards. Romans 6:11 ESV says, “ So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
