LIVE FROM HEAVEN WHILE WALKING ON EARTH II
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14 NIV
Israelites in the desert who were bitten by the snake, were not told to set their gaze on the snake that bit them or the wounds. Rather, they were instructed to look at the bronze serpent Moses made and live.(Numbers 21)
Colossians 3:1–2 NLT says, “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”
Beloved, we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. So we should lift our eyes above our circumstances and set our heart on things above. Draw our strength from the One who lives in us. We are to walk on earth, but live from heaven. Be present on earth, but be governed by heaven. Let Christ live through us.
The Lord, while on earth , walked in the consciousness of His heavenly position. In John 8:23 NIV, He said to the Jewish Authorities, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. ” This should also be our posture on earth, for as He is so are we in this world.
Just as the Israelites looked to the bronze snake and lived, we should also set our eyes on the things of heaven, and the troubles of earth will pass away. Galatians 5:16 NIV says, “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. ”
