SET YOUR MIND ON THE SPIRIT

The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Romans 8:16 ESV

If you come back from work and your toddler complains of no food in the house, you would rather confirm from your spouse, the one caring for the toddler while you were out. You will not conclude from what the toddler said. OUR theme tells us that it is the Spirit that testifies and not the flesh. So we must not accept the dictates of the flesh. For doing so means taking sides with the flesh against the Spirit of God. Romans 8:7 ESV says, “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.”

Remember that, “he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.” (I Corinthians 6:17 ESV) Taking sides with the flesh against the testimony of the Spirit, is separating oneself from the Spirit which leads to death. Romans 8:6 ESV says,,”For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”

If you want to know who you are, look at JESUS. The punishment that made us complete was put on Him, the wounds that healed us were also from Him. So when in worries, check on Him and not on the senses. Do your best to avoid the distractions of the natural realm. If you feel sick, you shouldn't rest on the feelings, instead set your eyes on the supplies from the Spirit. For it is the Spirit that sustains and not the flesh (Romans 8:11)
