THE AUTHORITY OF CHRIST CRUCIFIED

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

‭1 Corinthians 1:23 NIV‬

There is a Eucharistic preface used in our catholic church during the last week of lent that says, “For through the saving Passion of your Son the whole world has received a heart to confess the infinite power of your majesty, since by the wondrous power of the Cross your judgment on the world is now revealed and the authority of Christ crucified.”

Through His passion the whole world regardless of religion, can know God by believing in Jesus. The light from heaven has shone upon us so we can know God. John 1:4 says “ in Him was the life and the life is the light of mankind”. That is eternal life. We have been given the privilege to partake in His divine life, to enjoy a sweet fellowship with the Godhead!

Secondly, “your judgment on the world is now revealed”. The Lord said that when the Holy Spirit comes He will ‭convict the world “of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”(John 16: 9-11 KJV) That enemy that accuses us day and night has been cast out. In ‭John 12:31-32 KJV‬, He said, “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. “

Let us stand strong in the authority of Christ crucified, for through His saving Passion we have a new heart that can love God and one another, no condemnation on us for the accuser is judged and we are reconciled to God in righteousness.
