THE PEACE ONLY GOD GIVES

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:27 NLT

We have the peace only God gives because Christ, the Lamb of God has taken away the sting of death, sin. 1 Corinthians 15:56 NLT says, “For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.” The world cannot take away this sting of death, hence cannot give us this peace. Christ has swallowed death in victory and we have peace glory!. 1 Peter 2:24 NLT says, “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

Since sin that gives death power to hurt us was nailed to the cross, our earthly troubles; Sickness, hardships, marital crisis, depression etc, can not rule over us anymore. Isaiah 43:2 NLT says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

In Christ we are like the bush engulfed in flames but never burnt. (Exodus 3:2 NLT)

OUR duty is not to lose heart in troubles, for in the world today we might have troubles, but Christ has overcome for us.

That is why the Lord in our theme verse tells the disciples, “ So don’t be troubled or afraid. “ 1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT says “But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
