WE ARE CITIES ON A MOUNTAIN TOP

In the mountains of Judah he built cities, and in the forests he built forts and towers.

2 Chronicles 27:4 GNT‬

In our text, Jotham during his reign as king in Jerusalem, stood firm in the Lord, built cities in the mountains of Judah, and defeated the Ammonites. Likewise, we are sent to the world as cities on a mountain top that cannot be hidden.

‭Matthew 5:14 GNT‬ says about us, “You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.” We have been imbued with heavenly powers to shine as lights to the world, so we are shining.

Christ in us is not just for us, but for the world to see the beauty of God in us and give God praises. We dress well for outings mainly for people to see and not just for our stay at home. The same way we are not clothed with Christ for us alone but for the world. Isaiah 61:10 tells us we are clothed with garments of salvation and not just singlets of salvation.

That's Why the Lord said in John 17:23 GNT‬, “ I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me.” In John 14:10 He told Philip, “‭ The Father, who remains in me, does his own work.”

Our surrendered lives are needed for the Lord to shine His light through us.
