And the Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land of which I shall tell you.
Genesis 26:2 ESV
In our theme, Isaac wanted to run to Egypt because of famine in the land but God told him not to. The famines in our lives are not necessarily for us to live in worries and despair as in the old life. Rather, they are opportunities for us to display the glory of His grace bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 1:5-6 ESV says, “he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.”
This is why grace is sufficient in our weaknesses, and the power of Christ is greatest.( 2 Corinthians 12:9)
Famines represent weaknesses we go through in our health and wellbeing, finances, marriages etc. They entered our lives because of the sin of Adam.
But where sin increases, grace multiplies even more. Grace works through righteousness making the power of God to be in abundance. (Romans 5) That is why when Isaac obeyed God and sowed in the land , he reaped in multiples, because grace overflows. “And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The Lord blessed him,” (Genesis 26:12 ESV)
WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO BE COURAGEOUS IN ALL TRIALS IN JESUS NAME AMEN!
THANK YOU JESUS!
