WE SHARE IN HIS DIVINE NATURE

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

2 Peter 1:4 NIV

Though we are in a fallen world, we do not have a fallen nature, we have God's divine nature, spotless, blameless, above reproach, we are stainless. That a stainless steel in a rusty container has some rusty stains on it, does not mean it is rusty. All it needs is to be cleaned up and it still retains it's nature. The same way that we pass through sickness, hardships of this fallen world does not mean we are fallen. All we need is to be cleansed regularly by the washing of water through the word. ( Ephesians 5:26)

That is why our theme verse says He has given us His promises ,His words, so we can be continually cleansed with the mind renewed in knowledge by the washing with water through the word so as to share in His divine nature. No wonder the Lord said in John 17:3 NIV, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
