By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?

When Jesus walked the earth, He never operated independently. He did not act on His own authority. He operated under the authority of the Father. Jesus said:“The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” (John 14:10 NIV)
He acted on His Father’s authority by keeping His eyes on the Father. “The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing.” (John 5:19 NIV) And the same principle applies to us. For we are not here to operate by our own authority, opinions, or human wisdom.
We have been sent by Christ, who declared:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:18–19 NIV)
Our authority flows from the One who sent us.
That is why we must keep our eyes on Jesus and our hearts saturated with His Word. The more His Word fills our hearts, the more His authority is expressed through our words and actions.“For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God...”
John 3:34 NIV
So, whose authority are you acting on?
Don’t enthrone your circumstances, emotions, or human opinions above the Word of God.
Fill your heart with His Word, speak what He has spoken, and walk in the authority of the One who sent you.
